Seth Grae is President and CEO of Lightbridge Corporation. He has been with the company since its inception in 1992 and has served as its CEO since 1997. During Mr. Grae’s tenure, Lightbridge has evolved into a world leader in developing more highly proliferation-resistant nuclear fuel technologies and in providing comprehensive advisory services to governments that want to establish nuclear energy programs that meet the highest international standards of non-proliferation, safety, and transparency. Mr. Grae’s leadership was instrumental in securing for Lightbridge one of the first grants from the U.S. Department of Energy for non-proliferation-related work in Russia, for a valuable nuclear fuel-testing partnership.
In 2010 Mr. Grae was appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce to the Civil Nuclear Trade Advisory Committee, where he represents the thorium-based segment of the U.S. nuclear energy industry. He is also a member of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists’ Governing Board and was formerly co-chair of the American Bar Association’s Arms Control and Disarmament Committee. Mr. Grae has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Lawyers Alliance for World Security; in that capacity, he consulted on the drafting of nuclear export rules for Belarus and China, in addition to consultations with the Indian government on its nuclear programs.
Mr. Grae earned a B.A. (cum laude) from Brandeis University; an M.B.A. and an L.L.M. in international law (with honors) from Georgetown University; and a J.D. from American University. As a law student, he represented, pro bono, dissidents in Russia who were former nuclear scientists; through his efforts, they were able to obtain exit visas.
