Sir Ronald Grierson

Chairman

Sir Ronald Grierson, well-known banker and industrialist, is the longtime co-chairman of the Blackstone Group’s International Advisory Board. Sir Ronald serves as chairman of Lightbridge Corporation’s Strategic Advisory Council and has been with Lightbridge since 2006.

Sir Ronald has had a long and accomplished career. He was chairman of the General Electric Company (United Kingdom) from 1968 to 1996, and he also served as chairman of GEC International. During his time with GEC, Sir Ronald was responsible for the completion of various ambitious energy projects, including the successful deployment of a fleet of nuclear reactors in the United Kingdom. Prior to joining GEC, Sir Ronald was managing director of S.G. Warburg, the London-based investment bank. He has acted as deputy chairman and managing director of the U.K. Industrial Reorganization Corporation, as director-general of the European Commission in Brussels, as advisor to the U.N. secretary-general, and as a goodwill ambassador for the U.N. Industrial Development Organization. At various times Sir Ronald also served on the boards of Chrysler Corporation, R.J. Reynolds Nabisco, W.R. Grace & Co., British Aircraft Corporation (now BAE Systems), and International Computers Ltd. He continues to serve on boards and advisory boards in Europe (chiefly Blackstone Group) and the United States and is chairman of several international philanthropic bodies in the fields of medicine, education, and music. Sir Ronald is a trustee of the Royal Academy of Arts as well as a trustee of the LGT Group, which manages the Prince of Lichtenstein’s Foundation, the largest buyer of art in the world.

Sir Ronald was educated in Germany, France, and in England at Highgate School and Balliol College, Oxford, before joining the military and serving for more than ten years with the British Army.
