David Lange

Vice President and Nuclear Regulatory Expert, IAEA Expert

David Lange, an expert on nuclear safety and regulation, has been with Lightbridge Corporation since 2008. With a comprehensive understanding of the complexities of licensing and regulation that stems from decades of experience working for international and domestic nuclear oversight agencies, Mr. Lange has been instrumental in building Lightbridge's regulatory advisory services.

A nuclear engineer by training, Mr. Lange worked at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in Washington, D.C., from 1984 to 2007. He held various positions at the NRC, including section chief, chief examiner for boiling water reactors, and senior regional coordinator. Mr. Lange managed international projects for the Executive Director's Office as well as program and policy for the NRC's National Operator Licensing Program; he was also responsible for conducting the NRC's Reactor Operator and Senior Reactor Operator licensing examinations. From 2000 to 2006, Mr. Lange worked abroad as head of the Operational Safety Unit in the Department of Nuclear Safety and Security at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Austria; he managed the Operational Safety Review Team program and oversaw the updating of international nuclear safety standards and technical documents. Mr. Lange was a member of the IAEA team that received the 2005 Nobel Peace Prize.

Mr. Lange's areas of expertise include operational safety, operator licensing, nuclear power plant field inspection techniques, diagnostic and incident investigation, project management, and instrumentation and control. He earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical and industrial engineering from Northeastern University.
